Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how SocialWorks SRL, the operator of MP Social, collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use mpsocial.com (the “forum”).
For privacy questions or requests, contact contact@mpsocial.com.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
We may collect:
- account information, such as your email address, username, display name, password hash, profile details, preferences, and optional profile fields;
- content and activity, such as topics, posts, private messages, drafts, likes, flags, bookmarks, uploads, marketplace listings, and communications with staff;
- information you provide when asking for support, reporting content, taking part in moderation, or exercising a privacy right; and
- identifiers returned by Google or Facebook if you choose one of those optional sign-in methods. We do not receive your password for those services.
Information collected automatically
When you use the forum, we may collect IP addresses, dates and times, requested pages, browser and device information, referring pages, session and security events, search activity, and interactions used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
Discourse uses essential cookies and similar browser storage for login, security, preferences, and core forum functionality. If Google Analytics is enabled, it may also place or read analytics identifiers and collect information about visits and device/browser characteristics.
Public information
MP Social is primarily a public forum. Your username, profile information you make public, posts in public categories, likes, badges, trust level, and related activity may be visible to anyone and indexed or copied by search engines and other third parties. Private categories and messages have more limited visibility, but authorized staff may access them when needed for support, safety, security, or legal compliance.
2. Why we use information
We use information to:
- create and manage accounts and provide forum features;
- deliver notifications and transactional email;
- publish, organize, search, and recommend community content;
- calculate trust levels and badges and support community moderation;
- detect spam, fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our rules;
- respond to questions, reports, disputes, and privacy requests;
- maintain backups, diagnose problems, measure performance, and improve the forum;
- understand aggregate use of the forum through Google Analytics 4; and
- comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
Where the GDPR or similar law applies, the legal bases may include performance of our agreement with you, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the community, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where required. You may withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the basis, without affecting earlier lawful processing.
3. Automated processing
Discourse automatically uses activity to assign trust levels, award badges, rate-limit actions, and help surface relevant or popular content. These features can affect which forum capabilities are available to an account. The forum also uses automated security and anti-abuse checks, but MP Social does not currently use the Akismet service or Discourse AI to make decisions about posts.
Staff can review and override moderation and trust-level outcomes where appropriate. Contact us if you believe an automated action was incorrect.
4. Service providers and disclosures
We do not sell personal information and we do not run AdSense or other advertising scripts on the forum.
We may disclose information to providers that help us operate the forum, subject to their terms and appropriate safeguards:
| Provider | Purpose | Privacy information |
|---|---|---|
| DigitalOcean | Server hosting, storage, networking, DNS, and backups | DigitalOcean Privacy Policy |
| Mailgun | Transactional and notification email delivery | Mailgun Privacy Policy |
| Google Analytics | Aggregate traffic and usage measurement | Google Privacy Policy |
| Google and Facebook | Optional account authentication, only when a member chooses that method | Google Privacy Policy and Meta Privacy Policy |
We may also disclose information when required by law; to protect members, the public, our rights, or the service; in connection with a corporate reorganization or transfer; or with your direction or consent.
Marketplace transactions are normally arranged directly between members. Information you give another member is controlled by that recipient as well as by this policy while it remains stored on MP Social.
5. International transfers
Some providers may process information outside your country or the European Economic Area. Where required, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms and provider safeguards. You should review the linked provider privacy notices for details about their processing locations and transfer arrangements.
6. Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and protect the forum, honor member choices, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and comply with law.
Current operational settings include:
- outgoing email logs are scheduled for deletion after 90 days;
- search-query logs are retained for up to 365 days;
- unmatched blocked-IP records are retained for up to 365 days; and
- local forum backups are retained on a rolling basis for 7 days.
Account and public-content records may remain while the forum operates, including after an account is closed where preservation, attribution, abuse prevention, legal obligations, or the integrity of discussions requires it. Account closure may erase or anonymize account data. Edited posts may retain revision history visible to authorized staff. Residual copies may remain temporarily in backups and caches until they rotate out.
7. Cookies and analytics choices
Essential cookies are needed for login, security, saved preferences, and other requested functionality. Blocking them may prevent parts of the forum from working.
Google Analytics 4 is used to understand forum traffic and improve the service. You can limit analytics through browser privacy controls, by clearing or blocking cookies, or with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Where applicable law requires prior consent for analytics cookies or similar technologies, MP Social must use an appropriate consent-management mechanism before activating them for those visitors.
8. Security
We use administrative and technical measures intended to protect information, including encrypted HTTPS connections, access controls, software updates, backups, and monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Use a unique, strong password and notify staff promptly if you suspect unauthorized account access.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority.
You can update many account details in your profile and preferences, download an archive of your activity where the feature is available, and request account closure. For other requests, email contact@mpsocial.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request and may retain information where law permits or requires it.
EU and EEA residents may complain to their local supervisory authority. A list of European authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board.
10. Children
MP Social is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the forum if you are under 13. If a higher minimum age or parental-consent requirement applies where you live, that requirement also applies. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this section.
11. Third-party links
Posts may link to websites and services operated by others. Their privacy practices are their responsibility, and you should review their policies before providing information.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the forum, providers, practices, or legal requirements. We will post the current version here and update the effective date. We may provide additional notice when a change is material.
