Note - Sorry I know there are tons of threads asking this but its a specific example and I would appreciate if someone could tell me how realistic verification is for this business.
Hey, I am looking for someone to help with blue tick verification of a 30 year old designer jewellery business I am working with. The business/designer has an absolute ton of printed press from a while ago(20+ Articles in Vogue, Elle, etc) but has mostly been asleep for the past 5 years press wise so has barely anything online at all. The business has two retail stores with one in central London and spends over £1500 per week on paid Facebook and Instagram advertising as of recent.
It would be very easy for this business to pay for online features in Vogue/Forbes etc anytime(Although as far as I am aware paid content is not taken into account with verification?)
The owners are extremely eager to be verified so I am wondering if I should put my energy into a press release to get current online articles now or if it is possible to somehow utilise the older articles and pay for verification with the help of someone on this forum.
Thank you
The fact of the matter is that unless said business has super strong press (and I mean 30+ or so online publications in big outlets, not press releases), then thereās a chance that maybe a verification request might go through via a media portal (Facebookās VIP support).
Individuals/personal brands are way easier to verify, but with businesses youād end up spending a lot of time/money and it might amount to nothing.
If I were you Iād explain to your client that verification really doesnāt mean a lot.
Iām verified, and thereās only a few things itās good for.
- If you have under 10k followers you can still do swipe up links
- You can abuse story viewing and gain lots of followers for a small price (why would you risk losing your badge?)
- You get ācloutā and are perceived as an establishment or a personal brand as less approachable in the DMs (which is a feature that would be silly not to utilise day to day)
If theyāre really set upon getting verified perhaps first make them realise/clarify the benefits they could reap compared to the massive bill theyād be paying!
Firstly, thank you for your response, its much appreciated.
I believe I am capable of generating the press that is required for their business and I would find this especially easy if paid mentions such as the paid vogue item promotions count towards verification? Do you know if paid articles assist with verification?
They believe having verification will give them more credibility for online shoppers and I actually agree, in most cases I wouldnāt think that paying your way to verification would be worthwhile but seeing as they are selling Ā£1k+ items through their website I feel that being verified would actually increase their overal trust from their Instagram advertising and benefit the conversion rate so much that it would be a wise investment.
Verification generally does very little for increasing the conversion rate and Iām reading a lot of āI feelā or ābelieveā.
If you guys had a specific strategy to use the blue badge for marketing - like the number of followers gained, or profile visits, or link clicks - from a service you can run, then Iād say it is a smart decision and to go for it.
Verified accs have basically a zero spam score and there are some inherent pros like Laurence mentioned. They also have higher action limits, and very difficult to ban.
In your clientās case, it does not sound a wise investment because the blue badge is merely superficial.
HOWEVER, if they have the money and want it, then theyāll get it with or without youā¦
I say sell them the damn press package. Write up a contract. Get that done.
If you need a submission, my buddy has the portal to submit for brand/business pages but like @Looped31 said they are gonna need a good amount of press, especially for a brand/biz.
