Auto-unfollowing people that no longer follow me (Twitter)

The unfollow tool for twitter normally works fine except in this scenario:

  • Unfollow system is set to unfollow non-followers after X days
  • MP follows person
  • Person follows back
  • Person stays followed past that X day setting
  • Person unfollows on a later date

The above person will remain followed. I could manually unfollow them but I try not to manually mess with accounts being managed by MP.

I realize that going through my entire follower database all the time would not be good for performance but ideally I’d like to be able to force a data sync occasionally (maybe once a day) and let my unfollow tool remove any accounts no longer following and meet my other settings.

I tried syncing using the “Update Followed Back” option in the Results area of the “Follow” tool but it didn’t help.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You’re right, that’s how the tool works at the moment. We’ll try to come up with a solution here in one of the next updates, but I can’t give you exact date.

A lot of feature requests were delayed because of recent database updates that we worked on for last couple of months. Now we need to keep up with all of them. Thank you for your patience and pointing this out. Regards
