Another instagram problem for a regular business account that actually PAYS instagram money with the advertise tool. Super annoying.
I’ve been using instagram for my business for over a year now. The entire time I’ve had our website URL link in the bio. I’ve never changed it. Today, I tried following someone and got the message “it looks like your profile contains a link that is not allowed…”. I did some research on this and the link is completely legit. It’s a business website. I don’t know what else to do considering I rely on instagram for a lot of business traffic and I can’t even use it.
I also read that if that link shows up on several IG accounts all of a sudden the app will think it’s spam and block it. Doesn’t that mean I can just be a dick, create several fake IG accounts and put my competitor’s URL link in the bio of these accounts in order to block their account from doing anything? How would I know if someone did this to me?
I’ve read other posts about this but nothing works so please help me!!!
Thanks!!!
I had that problem with a legit link on Facebook. Went to their debugger, and it fixed it. I think throwing it in the debugger shows that you are a real biz instead of spammer. Since IG is owned by FB, it might work. If nothing else, there is a help link after you debug where you can get customer support. Here is a link to the debugger: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/
I did use your link and realized even Facebook blocked the URL link. I then noticed the URL link on the Facebook page does not work either (again annoying considering I pay Facebook for advertising as well). I guess I can try to contact them since they at least have a support line that responds (hopefully)
Ive had this before too, make sure your website has not been hacked. Sometimes it’s difficult to tell, because the hackers put your IP address in their code, so that to you, your site looks fine, but to outsiders the website does some dodgy things. If Instagram goes to your site and it was hacked, they will block your URL. If you are running a Wordpress website, log into your backend and download Wordfence plugin and run a scan, it will then tell you if your site was hacked. Good luck!
Usually when they block a link, they typically dont unblock it. There are rare occasions where they will unblock the link if they feel it was genuinely a mistake.
Roots to the problem could be simple as people reporting the page because they didn’t want the offer. Seems petty, but it happens. Placing a new link on the same account, the link will be under scrutiny and will only take 1 report for it to be blocked again. If they block any of my links, I typically just get rid of said account and domain as they no longer have value for me. Might different in your scenerio. Good luck.
I have one account with the same problem and I was not even able to follow after removing the link. However, I think I read somewhere on the forum the message will be removed when changing proxy.
hey i tried the link from the guy but it’s still not working i checked it on a profile now. Link not allowed error is coming the client is using linktree for now but we need the og domain unblocked
You can contact Facebook actually and speak to one of their customer service reps. That’s what I did and they investigated the issue and resolved it in about 5 days.
I tried finding it but can’t. I think you have to use a desktop and not your phone (on phone right now). From a desktop if you google Facebook contact support, there should be a page that lets you look up FAQs and if none of the answers are what you need there is a speak to a rep on a chat option at the end. Also, I think it’s part of the Facebook Ads support. Right now we pay for Facebook and Instagram ads so it’s a support line they give you as part of customer service. I think you need to do it through your Facebook ads admin panel if I remember correctly.
I had the same issue with a bit.ly link. I have yet to check adding a new bit.ly link but think that adding links in general is becoming more difficult (this is on a grown, very old account with 300k+ followers).
