Hi guys,
I recently started a Instagram account to promote a tourism product in south east Mexico. I know that content is king so I am taking the best content from other accounts in the reagion. It’s content that am sure my customers would enjoy.
The thing is that I just look throw the top post in the location, scroll to an older post that is relavent to what I am selling. Copy the link and downloaded throw downloadgram, then post it or put it on my story.
So the question is wether or no I can get in trouble with IG for using there content with our consent? Or do I need to edit it in some way?
I repost content, and a lot of people seem to. It seems to be pretty standard, and potentially mutually beneficial anyway. It’s also pretty standard to give credit by tagging the original account in the caption, but some people successfully don’t do this (but if you are at chance of getting reported, that would probably be the reason why).
Some softwares may offer the option to edit the picture upon posting which is meant to help keep it more unique. That would depend on what you are using.
Yes. You can get disabled for “sharing content that isn’t your own”. Instagram makes their own money off promotions so if you happen to get your post flagged for spam or impersonation or anything of that nature, they can disable your page. A lot of people do paid promo/shoutouts, I did them as well and some months I had no issue and other times I was disabled for it
Thanks very helpful, I will try editing the generic images so make them more unique and and repost the rest
Ok good to know, the content could be consider impersenation as it is personal images. I only use th for promotional perpuses. Does this only apply to pictures where the person is in them?
Up to know I only have 4 pictures where the person from the original account is in them.
Is it necessary to delete them?
And can this happen as well if I post them on my story?
Short answer, yes. ( You said CAN, not: will it be likely )
I’m honestly not sure, in MY case the people that didn’t want to pay for promo would flag my post of other models, singers, etc for spam so when I’d get disabled the reason would be “sharing content that isn’t your own.” Instagram also frowns against posting the same image multiple times (or same caption), for some post I’d have to add a filter or adjust it slightly to avoid having it removed. Again, some pages can repost content without issues, but if a competitor or internet troll targets and reports you, instagram has no problem taking your page down
So @HenryCooper do you suggest I delete them and stop?
Also if my account gets disable will I be able to recuperate the name ?
Well I did read between the lines to be honest.
I post copyrighted (I am not the owner) pictures all day on Instagram. For me its worth it the time saving. Is it for you?
That completely depends on wether or not I can get the username back and start over. Is it that hard to get it back @HenryCooper?
If you are ready to be out of business for half a year, sure.
