Looks like Facebook is definitely experimenting with some ads on Whatsapp.
Just got this glitchy error message today while setting up a random campaign:
Confirms that at least two things are being tested - Video as well as Image ads and a very interesting choice for an ad placement - Status update page. I don’t remember the last time I changed my status or pic, but I guess other people do it pretty regularly.
Till now, even the latest news has not promised anything in terms of Ads on whatsapp (https://www.adweek.com/digital/facebook-will-figure-out-ads-on-whatsapp-but-is-focusing-on-business-tools-for-now/). Besides, ads goes against what the founders had in mind (https://blog.whatsapp.com/245/Why-we-dont-sell-ads?) and what Facebook had promised them while buying them.
Anyone else has any info about this? Any of you working in markets where Whatsapp is commonly used?
