I’m in the planning stages of starting up an IG account in the small business/entrepreneur niche. Content will be primarily infographics providing digital marketing tips/tricks, motivational quotes, etc.
My plan is to create about 30 infographics (all with my brand) each month and have them scheduled for posting daily.
I’ve got a few questions I’d like to throw out:
What software/site do you use for infographic templates? I’d like to have the option of including character vectors as well.
Infographics seems like a lot of work, especially design-wise (although the infographics I’m going for are relatively simple). I can easily come up with the copy/quotes, but not sure how much work it’d be to put together graphics/etc. Would it be wise to outsource this?
In the niche I’m going for, within different accounts, I’ve noticed some of the content (i.e. infographics) in a few IG posts are similar but has their own branding. Is it frowned upon to take similar posts and ‘rebrand’ them to your own?
Not an expert by any means, but have done a few for previous companies I’ve worked for,
I’ve used Adobe Illustrator, but a free alternative is Inkscape. This is what I’ve used, not sure if there aren’t better software packages around.
Infographcs ARE a lot of work if you want to make them catchy and informative. You probably could outsource this to freelancers. Try 2-3 doing the same graphic, see which one you connect better with, and move forward with that one.
Big no no. I’ve received compensation from people using some of my photos in their own advertisement without licensing them. It opens you up to being sued for copyright infringement, which can be substantial amounts.
your best solution its canvas.com and if you dont wanna use their icons you can use freepik.com its a great resource
and yes you can take a post already made add your own touch to make your brand stand out and then its legitimelty yours and you see this becaus most of them use canvas which lets you save the template so you only change the variables as in text&icons but the look kind of the same
It is okay to rebrand but why would you? Take the extra step to make your own. Take a couple of others, mash them together, add your own twist and you are done. 90% of it is done for you. Look at it from your audience’s POV… are you going to want to follow someone who just takes someone else’s stuff and rebrands it (shortcut) or the one who takes the time to make their own? My vote is that more would follow you when you make your own. My 2 cents…
I’m not going to argue whether you can or can’t because nobody ever changes their minds. I can only talk about my experiences from my time as a pro photographer working with creative agencies. Unless the work was released to public domain or have a creative commons license allowing modifications, you can’t just rebrand, even after modifications.
Read about copyright law, and in particular sections on derivative works.
This link might give you an idea. But make your own mind from what you read. After all, we are all experts around here.
Someone’s already said it but unless you’re still debating what to use, Canva hands down. All of the infographics you see on those business/money pages on Instagram are 9/10 times made on Canva…
