It’s since the changes to algorithm that changed which posts instagram shows you. I have seen it in my own accounts… the top 9 isn’t always the posts with the most likes or engagement now. At least from what I have seen…

Python good way to go, also give a try to nodejs with cheerio or/and headless browser with puppeteer.
I just finished a super fast tool to scrape followers from any account and to clean-up of the list, mass-followers, accounts with 0-9 posts, etc etc, basically to have a list of good quality followers. Soon I’m adding the same functionality for post’s likers and commenters as they should also be higher quality as they engaged with the recent post.
