I recently travelled to Austria and got hold of 12 Lycamobile sim cards. How do I use them? I used to read they don’t need verification.
Depends if you need them for PVs or for creating mobile proxies. In case of receiving codes for PVs you don’t need to activate them. Just plug them into a phone, receive the sms with the phone number, enter it into your preferred account and receive the code from Instagram when needed.
That’s what I intended to do, but I can’t find any phone number assigned to it.
I ordered them by mail to the hotel we stayed in.
From where did you ordered them? I got mine from the UK. You have to plug the Sim into the phone and you should get a welcome sms from them with the phone number of the Sim attached to it. It can take few minutes. At least that’s how it worked with mine.
Have you tried to enter this on your phone: *132#
That should show the number.
You need to register/verficate them. It’s a law in austria.
In english with google translator:
"Without registration, a new SIM card can not be activated and used. Charge credits, make phone calls, send text messages and surf the Internet only works if the phone number has been registered in advance.
If you have already activated your SIM card before 1.1.2019, then you must register by 1.9.2019 to continue to recharge your credit."

From 1.1.2019 the new regulation of §97 Abs 1a Telecommunications Act comes into force in Austria, according to which all SIM cards must be registered by name.
Yup, without verification I get “Not registered on Network” no matter what. I’ll probably only get a number to the card after I verify.
So far I couldn’t manage to verify with my real information, I will contact customer service tomorrow.
