Growing account for a young startup

Hello guys,

I’ve been put in charge of growing an account for a startup company, who is building an app (in the relationship/dating niche).

They don’t really have a budget right now, and the app they are developing is still a few months away from being finished.

I’ve been thinking about how to promote this, and this forum has helped me alot.

The ‘app’ profile (the main brand/account) will need to be a pro profile, and only post content relevant to its brand. I don’t think it makes sense to have this account promote funny memes or anything, it should stick to “'pro” content related to its own product, to build up an audience that’s only interested in the product.

I also don’t feel like directly linking slaves to this profile, it would be too aggressive, so instead, I’ve been thinking about creating a “middleman mother account”:

  1. the Middleman Mother account, in the general relationship/dating niche, this will post high quality content related to relationships/dating,…
  2. Slave accounts that promote the Middleman Mother account.

Once the middleman mother account has grown, it could do shoutouts for the “app” account, or even trade shoutouts with other influencers to get them to promote the app.

Would this make sense?

Should this middleman mother account also be a “pro” account, that doesnt like/follow other content so that it becomes a “high authority” account? Can’t I just start creating some pro content, like+comment only related/high quality content on this account for now, and then later add some slaves when they are ready? I think this middleman mother account should get to atleast 1000 followers before having slaves drive traffic to it, no?

I think you’re trying to adopt a very complicated strategy. You can indeed create a pyramidal M/S system, which can definitely work. But for that, you need a few thousands of child accounts, to be able to compete with a straight forward “child accounts redirecting to main”.

  • Yes, it can be a “pro” account (but we don’t really care about your like/follow to not give to anyone)

  • Add child accounts as soon as you can. The sooner, the better.

  • No, you can start sending traffic from the start. The later you get on the train, the longer they’ll wait.

In my opinion, this seems like a bigger project than the ordinary.
I would instead look into Influencer marketing, perhaps using these influencers to then run your own ads. Tiktok influencers, or whatnot.

Yeah will be a lot of work and expensives to build the system you want. Plus the slaves them will have to look very professional and also be following very targeted audience.

If some random dating slave followed me I would probably report as spam and think it was one of those annoying spam accounts trying to send me to a website.

As said above, influencers would be a good way to start and get some social proof

Will be extremely hard these days to raise your account the way you mention. It’s possible but hard.

The idea is not bad, but the path you have chosen is not gonna be easy and it will be time consuming.

Good influencer profiles interact with profiles atleast their own size. Don’t expect a 100K profiles trading shoutouts with a 5K profile.

Instead you might wanna raise a bunch of middle men mothers with M/S, hashtags, shoutouts or whatever other method you prefere and then use your “own middle men mother network” to promote your main.

Should work wonders once your middle men mother have grown big enough.

Thx for the replies guys, making me reconsider.

So the advice now is to either:
-Skip the middleman account, and do straight into promoting the startup account from the child accounts. (won’t this result in worse engagement rate on the startup account?)
-Forget about growing instagram pages and just work with influencers/paid ads instead

right?

What do you mean with this? I grow a bunch of accounts, and they promote the startup account?

Why multiple ‘mother accounts’ and not just one? Is that different from how I originally explained it?

So in this case I would grow multiple mother accounts, each who have some slave accounts, and promote the startup from those mother accounts?

This explains it all! Bingo. In this case you risk nothing around the actual start up account.
All the so called mother accoubts are raised by slaves or either way you prefer to raise these mother accounts. Once they reach a decent size you start promoting the start up account.

Perfect.

But why multiple? Isnt it easier to just raise 1 mother account?

Now look many will just jump into M/S directly and skip the whole middle men mother accounts. If you know what your doing, straight on M/S solution should be all good.
However your request was this:

So based on your request and needs I gave you above suggestion.

Now to answere your question:

It depends how you look at it. If you gonna automate your way through the process, once you have found a working setup, and you behave and don’t act like you are in a race challenging the algo of IG, it does not matter wherther you are raising 1 account of 1000. The automation is doing the process for you. Maybe a bit more time consuming, but easy! The only different is the cost. Ofcourse raising 1 account is cheaper than 10. That goes both for manual process or via automation. Buying proxies, license, shoutouts etc. for 1 account vs. many. Get my point?
But at the end of the story It’s all about scaling. Imagen having only 1 so called “mother account” with 10K followers to promote your start up account or having 5 mother accounts consistent of 10K followers to promote your startup account?

10K vs. 50K which option will have bigger impact on your overall reach? Which will be more effective? And once you have a good amount of big “mother accounts” the fun starts.

If your content, and I repeat myself. CONTENT is everything. IF your content is king, and you have your own network in place, your wil be rolling.

So basically roughly summed up, you need two keys to success

  1. Network, either your own or with others within your niche ( I will prefer having my own network)
  2. King content

You got these 2. You have the key to success.

Good luck buddy. I hope my explanation cleared things up for you.

** Mother accounts mentioned here are the so called middle men Mother accounts which is meant. Just to clearify things.

You were just given the keys, with more than enough guidance on how best to approach it, given what you asked for OP.

This is exactly what I would’ve suggested separately, had it not been mentioned in nuanced detail for you.

Keeps you in a leveraged position whether the startup sees success or otherwise.

The best way would be to use shoutouts and Influencers. That would be the most efficient way definitely but that is why it’s the most expensive one as well

It’s worth pointing out that if you keep control of those ‘middleman’ accounts, you then have the start of a nice network to use as you want in the future.

This could be shoutouts for other influencers or apps, or just another tool to add to your social media management offer.
