[GUIDE 2019] Of Efficiently Releasing Music Video

Quick Intro:

I’m new to the forum, but doing social media marketing for quite a long time. I have 4 customers but very good ones. Two of them are musicians/band. I started to release their music video’s for some time now and dragged them from being normal band to one of the most recognized one’s in a small country(2-3mio population).:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I will put this guide into 3 chapters: The Build-Up, Release Time, Everything outside of Social Media

Time of music video release: Thursday 23:59 - For public. In reality you release it Friday 00:00. -Just to avoid confusion.

Reason: I’ve tested monday, tuesday, friday 5PM+, saturday and none of those were better overall than Friday 00:00. The first ones who used such a time for releasing are german rappers. In next months they started to come to Billboard top 100, Spotify most streamed songs, Youtube - 10mio views in few days, 7mio views in 1day.

My thoughts on why is this time better is; At midnight no one usually posts, so people will see your post at midnight immediately this goes for Facebook, Instagram and Youtube aswell. Also when they wake up they usually see you'r post FIRST.

Psychological: Fridays are common for overall good-human behavior as well as more prone to share and talk among people with common interests.

Two quick comparisons;

Kendrick Lamar - ELEMENT (89mio views), Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools(63mio views) against German rapper Mero; His first music/single ever is after three months 86mio views!!!

Mero single Olabilir after 1day - 8mio views, the record in Youtube music industry is Eminems Killshot which got 38mio views in first 24hours. And we are comparing two very much size different countries/languages.

THE BUILD-UP

As we will release Music Video on Thursday. We want to promote and let our fans/followers know. We dont want to be too subtle nor too aggressive. So I follow my script:

Sunday: Picture Announcement on Instagram, Facebook

Tuesday: Teaser/Trailer Announcement on Instagram, Facebook

Tuesday-Thursday:

  1. Video Story

Take the most ear-catching part of the song out and make 9:16 video out of it for Instagram&Facebook Story. Edit it with app: Mojo on iOS (free and easy to use). Make two versions (one for first day and one for other days).

  1. Getting “influencers”

Just make a list of 100 people and send them text if they could share up the song; I usually gathered other small-medium sized artists and asked them if they could share music video and we would do the same for them next time. Also ask all friends to share the story.

  1. Small video for Instagram

Take out the most ear-catchy song vibes or most “awesome” music video scenes and cut it to 30sec for Instagram Post

Monday, Wednesday you can post normal posts like nothing ever happened! - Don’t be afraid!

RELEASE TIME

  1. Friday 00:00. Make video public on Youtube.

  2. Change your IG profile bio to “Songname OUT NOW” and change current bio link to music video link.

  3. Upload 30sec video on Instagram - hooking them to check BIO link,

  4. Post on Youtube link on Facebook with almost exact same text you’ve used in IG, just remove the “check out link in bio” part.

  5. Use promote on Facebook and Youtube. Wait for next day to two for your influencers and enjoy results.

EVERYTHING OUTSIDE SOCIAL MEDIA

Book every small radio station you can for free interview and song introduction.
Book every TV show where you can get your free promo.
Book every magazine interview you can get for free.

(But that’s not our Business, So just tell them what to do) :joy::rofl:

I’ve done this numerous times. Last time we used 150€ in promotions (70€ Facebook ads, 50€ Instagram story ads - terrible idea, 30€ Google ads for YT). The music video was nothing special and the song was a cover.

We’ve got 500K views in 2 months. Were #1 Trending on Country Youtube for 1 whole week. All that in a country with 2-2.5 million population. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Hope I’ve shared something new and interesting for you.
If there’s any “Ads Guru” here, I would be glad for some help as I want to get better in Story ads and Google ads.

This is my EXPERIENCE and OPINION. Do what you would like to do with it!

+Also there’s a lot of small thing around it, since this is a Level 1 post (I assume), I wanted to keep it plain and simple and detailed for another thread.

Funny that you draw the comparison to Mero, who is in the press in Germany, because allegedly for his songs millionfold plays on Spotify and and views on Youtube were bought.

Right? But I think this is some B*S(They actually posted public scheme of YT Views which were 70% Germany and around 15-20% Turkey). Anyways we cannot ignore the fact, 187Strassen Bande, Luciano and other German rappers are pulling impressive numbers out. So the “hype” should be real.

Well, this guy says he is pushing all big German rappers. Might be a lie, but I think it can definitely be true.

About the documentary: Rappers are currently breaking all streaming records in Germany, even breaking the Beatles’ chart positions.
