I have an IG account with 40k+ followers in the travel niche and I am trying to figure out how to monetize. At 40k+, there must be some opportunities to make some money. I have joined up to loads of different “Influencer” platforms which have yielded zero results/opportunities.
If anybody can point me in the right direction or has any suggestions as to what I could be doing I would appreciate it. Are there any places online where I might be able to find some of these opportunities? Or should I be reaching out to PR Companies, Brands, Tour Companies, etc directly?
Companies email me via my 60k travel account on a daily basis offering free product and money for posts. What’s your engagement rate? Companies pay people to find influencers, I get contacted a dozen times a week.
And your content is awesome. And that makes a HUGE difference.
Having a travel account is one, having a decent sized travel account is another, having a travel account + unique and engaging content, that is a whole different story.
Don’t hit up “platforms” that manage accounts, they only care about the quantity of accounts to exaggerate their network for investors/businesses but rarely spend time to pull opportunities.
Definitely reach out to companies that you believe are compatible to you. Make sure to create a nice portfolio (one simple page) that outlines who you are, the content you produce, and the results (case studies if you have any) and send out emails/dms where you summarize and outline how a collaboration would align with their vision.
You can contact e-commerce travel companies to promote their travel accessories or something similar.
You travel a lot so you can start a blog and share your experience and knowledge about the places you visit. This will also gain you more reach and will give your followers a reason to interact with you. By this you could collect emails which you help you market your new blog/video or content.
You can get associated with affiliate programs.
Also you can contact Gas companies, you could approach them to publicize their Brand wherever you travel. (Like this trip is sponsored by Spire, Enstar natural gas, etc) This could be challenging but if you could convince and land a deal with them then way to go buddy.
This idea would certainly work well. I really like the idea of portraying the portfolio in one simple page. This would definitely catch attention to whom has been sent and could increase chances of your collaboration with them.
