Just wanted to get y’all opinion on the current state of IG and how engagement % and virality currently works.
I’ve heard that the 1st hour of a new post/video is crucial because based on that, IG will either reward that post with more or less reach which results in more or less engagement on the post.
Is that true? And what about engagement groups, are those still worthwhile?
Have been stuck on organic growth on a 110K account and would love to hear your thoughts!
If you’re posting regularly and your followers are real, with a 110k following you should be hitting the Explore page regularly if you’re setting up your hashtags properly.
Engagement groups are practically one of the few methods available to larger accounts. You should definitely get into some with accounts with the same range of followers you do. Get these guys to like, comment and save your post within the first 15-30 minutes of your post and you have a good chance of hitting the explore page.
Shoutouts are also a pretty good way for you to grow as well.
Usually I select hashtags on the 5/5/5 rule. 5 extremely high competition #s (#s with multiple million posts), 5 mid range ones (few hundred thousand posts to low millions) and 5 very low competition ones.
Getting on the explore page is all about the first 15-30 mins of posting. Get into super active engagement groups who respond within seconds or minutes of you posting.
Can also try posting a story ~5 mins after you post your image, telling people to check out your new post. I’ve seen dog profiles get that extra juice out of this by putting the same image as the post in the story, but hiding the dog behind an emoji. Don’t know what niche you’re in, but maybe you can try something similar.
I think some of the more experienced members can help you better here.
You don’t stuff the post with 30 hashtags? Just 15?
“Get into super active engagement groups who respond within seconds or minutes of you posting.”
What does this mean? You mean engagement groups who do automated rounds?
And how do you know if you hit explorer page? I’ve only done it once but that was very random and was very obvious. Post had 30X engagement versus normal ones
For really small accounts stuffing posts with as many hashtags as possible is the best way to go. I mostly handle brand accounts, so I end up using only about 7-8 hashtags at most with those accounts. For growth accounts like yours, there’s really nothing wrong in stuffing more hashtags there I guess, but always segmented into high/med/low categories.
Nothing automated. Your engagement/DM group should have members with similar numbers of followers as you do and as soon as a post from any of these members goes out, the other members contribute to that post by liking/commenting/saving the post. This increases the chance of you hitting the Explore page massively.
Yeah, hitting the Explore page is pretty much obvious.
Ah okay gotcha. What are DM groups? I only know of engagement groups, and for EG, do members need to be in the same niche or does it not matter?
And nothing I’ve been doing for the past 3-4 months have grown this account whatsoever and the engagement % is a bit low (1-2.5% on avg). Is the account ‘dead’?
another thing i found out to work pretty well is to give ur followers something to share, like for example a question and answer sheet about their favorite subjects in school, the destinations they wanna travel whatsoever… if u have an influencer posting it (blank without questions answered) and it has a nice design as well as ur influencers name mentioned on the pic ur followers will share the pic and it can result in good growth
Hashtags really don’t get you viral it’s the content. Before it was different now they play less of a role than before. If you make 2 percent or higher engagement you most likely will be on explore. How many people see it will depend on likes and followers in the shortest time
