Stay away from spammy hashtags! what is a spammy hashtag?
A spammy hashtag is a hashtag that has been used to many times according to Instagrams algorithms example (#Follow4follow#like4like#s4s etc…)
The best way you can protect your account against shadow ban💀
The method is quite simple when you do you
HASHTAG research:mag: type in the #TAG in the search bar & if there is no Top 9 list on the Explore page, it means the tag is banned, and every time people try to use this Hashtag.
They will get shadow banned💀 shadow ban will lover your engagement rate, and shadowbanned content would not be shown to new potential followers⛔
Switching up hashtags helps prevent Shadowban also not including too many hashtags or posting pictures without hashtag prevents shadowban. Also making sure your link in the bio is not spam will prevent shadowban!
Never a good idea to copy and paste unconfirmed stuff as people will take it as 100% accurate. At least put a disclaimer that these are UNCHECKED.
I pulled a small sample in my quote and those are all legit tags, as of today at least. If I can skim and find examples of tags that are not banned in a “banned hashtags” list, it makes the whole list questionable.
IG might not refer to it as shadow banning but it exists. It just might be an after effect from other things. Like say the algorithm is designed to lower reach on accounts it suspects are violating community guidelines to help “protect” the general IG community. Then if you fall in that suspect list you’re shadowbanned but they (IG) aren’t directly targeting you, the algorithm is just adjusting what your reach should be until it feels you’re more trustworthy.
Posting in a hashtag that’s been flagged hints you might be posting unsavory content and puts you on that watch list, and therefore lower trust score and therefore lower reach.
This is no different than ISPs that don’t “throttle services” as a policy (or admitted publically) but will reduce traffic to particular sites because it’s putting a strain on their network to allow more reliable access to everything for everyone. It’s still throttling but they’ll refer to it as something like abuse management or improved accessibility.
@Tacos I’m more about the comment shadowbanning. I used to use it super succesfully but i notice comment shadowbans. Is that even possible? Or are peolpe just deleting my ‘spam’ comments?
It’s been months since i used it. I stopped it after the blockwaves. But i’d love to use it again.
Doesn’t matter if it’s about hashtags, comments, general posting or anything else. The theory about what happens with you getting shadowbanned remains the same and my thoughts around IG trying to be coy about it not existing because it’s not a direct attack on an account but rather just how their algorithm works still remains a valid theory.
As far as having issues with your comments sticking, there’s a ton of reasons why it may not show up. Unfortunately I don’t have any direct advice to offer to improve that beyond the standard spintax, test and adjust for results mentality.
It’s definitely possible. I had a girl message me if I could see her comments and sure enough, I couldn’t, even though she sent me screenshots of it being there on my post. I don’t think she automates her account, so I’m not sure what triggered her comment shadowban.
