So I ask because I tried the automatic audience put together by Instagram vs. targetting UK and US (at a friendly time zone for both).
For the former I got hundreds of likes from promotions vs. maybe 10-20 likes for the targeted one at the same price. The drawback of the high engagement promotion was that it was all people from India.
So on one hand it is neat to push likes in a new post and get higher up in the hashtags but I’m not going to sell much to India and the engagement / probability of being followed by them is lower than US/UK where most of my base is.
Did somebody experiment with this? Any good guides?
I’ve ran many camapigns with Facebook ads and it all depends on your goals and what you are looking for. If you are in for the number of likes then go ahead and target worldwide, you’ll get cheap likes from India, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan etc. That traffic doesn’t convert and if you are running this for long time, it will stick to your account forever. So, if your audience is in the UK and US, then you will have to open up your wallet if you are planning on running Facebook ads on Instagram. Those are the most expensive and competitive markets and Instagram ads are more expensive than Facebook ads. If you are just doing this for the likes, I wouldn’t suggest you to do that as it is not efficiently used money, but if you want to drive traffic or find customers it can definetly be worthwhile
So, let’s suppose you do worldwide campaigns for one month and spend $200. This will give you dozens of thirdworld country likes and follows. Instagram will start showing the content you post to those kind of people more and more. And once your account is grouped within those countries set, most of the reach you would be getting from then on will be from the countries where the people came when the ads were run
Always use FB ADs manager and create there an ad to promote your IG post.
You are able to select over there a way better audience.
There is no need to use a big ammount of cash to promote photo to get better social proof.
Yes, you can select option when you are doing your ad campaign.
Also, with a high quality content I receive 1200 likes per 1euro spent, targeting only young Indians, it works perfectly.
Do you know what is Facebook ADs manager and you know IG and Facebook is same company?
Doing ADs you are able to select location of Post (where it will be shown -> just leave checked IG feed), also you are able to pick IG post which you have already posted on your IG wall.
I was unaware that forums were only for advanced users.
Here I was thinking it was a place to learn for each other. My bad.
I have used facebook ads before but never for a specific IG post so was not sure. If I create an ad with a different pic that is not the same as the one I uploaded to IG then likes etc won’t be as interesting. I’ll have a look nyself.
Sorry about that, you are right that I was too rude.
The best way to create IG ads is FB ads manager.
You are able to do over there AD selecting IG post which you got on your wall, just at last step select correct FB fanpage and IG account.
Doing this way you are able to be more specify using and playing with audience.
Don’t forget to select placement just for IG feed.
The other way is to start AD with IG button to promote post, and later you are able to edit audience etc. on your ADs manager.
Spending budget 5-10$ per post for 2-3 days will give you pretty good engagement under the post.
You will not get big ammount of followers doing IG ADs.
Thanks for the advice.
I have been researching IG ads too and trying to learn how to add my client’s IG pages to my FB Business Page manager.
Could you kindly explain how that process works?
Does the client need to have an IG business page?
There must be a tab I missing.
I read about the ads for several hours, but somehow I am missing the important step of how to add a client’s IG page to the FB Business Page manager.
Thank you for any guidance.
