2021 I purchased 5 aged accounts. All was fine. Logins easy, pass change easy, all good.
Over time I changed the username for some. Two in 2021, two more in 2022.
2023 I changed the username on the last account to a name matching a domain I have.
For about 1 year I would visit the accounts every couple of months. No posts, just login and click a few like buttons to keep the accounts alive. This is being done from laptop browsers, with USB teathering and new IP address each time. Different browsers (Chrome, Brave, Firefox, Edge, SlimJet)
2024 one of the accounts, with a username I very much wish to keep, would not let me log-in. I know the pass (saved in browser and saved in a spreadsheet)
I try again and agin every few weeks for almost 2 years.
I tried pass reset, but the link never arrives by email. This is interesting because the email account continues to get email from Instagram with the username showing in the subject line. The most recent promotional email from Instagram was yesterday.
I check the orginal email address that was in the account and there is nothing there.
I try log-in on a new phone on 4G LTE. Failed.
I try on office ISP (Cable), Verizon Home Internet, SIM card in phones, and USB teathering a laptop to 4g LTE phone.
I once read that having the email address in a facebook account some how helps. Not sure why, but did read that. I added the email account to a Facebook account. Facebook sent email for confirmation, and the next month when I removed a different email address from that Facebook account they sent a confirmation to the email address related to the Instagram account.
Clearly Meta “can” send email to that account from both Instagram and Facebook, but if it is a pass reset it never arrives.
Are there other things I can try to save this account?
Thanks!
