Stay niche related. If your page is @NaturePictures, and you change it to @ExploreNature then it shouldn’t have too much of an effect if you’re posting the same type of content. Although if it’s @NaturePictures and you change it to @ComedyLOL and start posting memes, then it’ll hurt bad.

A tool i have use to come up with similar names is a hashtag tool. EG put in nature come back with a range of things that people are already use to seeing. Save the brain damage of sitting there going…what the @#$ do i call this thing

It happens that we grow accounts for clients, using another branding and name to make sure we can go full speed without taking risks, and then, once ready and grown, we rebrand them.

As we grow them with the exact target we want for the final account, renaming the account usually doesn’t change anything and followers keep on engaging.

Didn’t do it much but I changed the name on a couple of accounts for branding just like @LordSW said, and I haven’t had a problem or notice any variances.

Might be obvious but in case you didn’t think about it… if your IG handle is spread all over the web, users will end up on a 404 page after clicking it. So, make sure you go back to those websites you can edit and change it to the new username. My 2 cents
