Because of the ongoing action block waves, I’ve taken to scraping a list of users who aren’t following back and slowly, manually unfollowing about 200 people a day.
Unfollowing through this method I haven’t been receiving action blocks, or any “please wait a minute” messages.
I’ve been keeping track of who I unfollowed in a spread sheet, but recently I’ve noticed that some of these users are followed again, and the “following” count has climbed back up.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue of actions being reversed?
Thanks for your feedback @Koven and @Derdam! That’s what I figured; but I’d been sticking to under 50 unfollows per hour, so I was kind of surprised that they weren’t sticking.
I’ve noticed on android it doesn’t always tell you that your action is blocked. You can verify by performing a follow or unfollow and then going to your profile page and refreshing. If you unfollowed and it was actually blocked, when you refresh your following will go up by 1.
Iphone seems to be much better at telling you when your action was blocked, it usually pops up a modal.
man, i don’t have anything against you but please make up statements like this. Do you even know how ridiculous this reply sounds ? IG treats both android and iOS as same in their backend. Its not my perception its a fact. Adding onto this, to people wondering if doing manual f/u is better on iOS devices instead of android - There is absolutely no difference between both (tested on 70+ devices). What matters is how you do your actions .
Thanks for sharing your feedback @getseclectic. I think I’ve been experiencing the “silent block” @Alexnvo was describing, because the unfollows do seem to stick when I refresh my profile. It’s only 24-48 hours later that the following number climbs back up.
