New Instagram feature - think twice before using it

For those of you that haven’t seen, Instagram has introduced the ability to recover recently deleted posts.

Brilliant.

But, if you accidentally delete a post and think: “Yup, why not give it a go?”, maybe think twice.

I did just that. I gave it a go, and that post instantly had zero reach beyond my own followers. Now, it has done very well with my followers (30%+ reach within a few hours) and I have been able to promote it with no issues, but I’d rather just repost it next time and get that sweet explore page.

I’d be interested in hearing if anyone else has a better experience?

What do you mean?
How would you repost deleted post?

You just post the image and caption again?

I don’t this feature is intended for what @EauDeBo hoped it would achieve - It’s more or less for the ‘oops there goes my party pic from last weekend’ account and not the ‘20M follower meme page, DM me for shoutout’ type

Haha yep, I think you hit the nail on the head there! :joy:

Just like @schoko says, I’ve got the image so I’d wait a few days or weeks and post it manually again. I’ve done that before and had no problems with how much reach it gets a second time.

Did you get the comments/Likes back when restoring the post?

Yep. It came back exactly where it was before - same likes/comments/views - except Explore reach literally stopped dead.

My analytics reckon it should have had a good amount of Explore reach based on all of my other posts and how they do with similar engagement in the first hour.
