Switch to Business Account... or not

I switched my biggest and best accounts to business accounts and everything was fine till some point. Now, almost a year later my pages are ruined. Content I post are equally great but engagement and exposure in explore feed is terrible. It resulted in gaining followers and in visiting my website.
I used to get about organic 10k followers per month without any bot service, just by posting photos, and now I get about 1000 - 2000 followers. I hade between 4000 and 5000 unique visits on my website through IG, now I get about 1000.
That is the account that suffered the most, other 3 are terrible too.

I have 2 main accounts, one is 28.1K now and the other one is 19.3K now. Both are based on motivational and inspirational quotes. By the time I reached 800-1000 likes/post I decided to give a shot and try to use the business profile, just because it looks better and gives additional info. After two days or three I’ve noticed a drop of likes that I was hardly getting 350-450 likes/post. On both my account. So obviously I wasn’t drastically changing my content and it’s to a half of what I was getting. I switched again back to normal, got my engagement back up and then tried again.

I had the same results second time, my engagement dropped completely, other say they feel no difference, but I do value my engagement on both pages.

So my best advice is to avoid it, or try to see if you feel any difference. I know now that for me it surely doens’t work as I would want it to be.

Hope this helps.

I tried to switch back to personal account and kept in for a few months like personal too but there was no difference, damage was already made. Now I keep it as business account because at least I have swipe up in stories…

Yes I think that is the general feeling about it. Thanks!

Helps a lot! thanks  I will wait to see how that evolves.

Try to temporarily disabled your page for a week… I switched mine to a personal account, temp disabled it for 4 days, and when I logged back in and made a new post the engagement was high again. Not sure if THATS what did it but I’d give it a try if you can spare deactivating it for a few days

No, log in on browser, go to settings, select “TEMP DISABLE a ACCOUNT”, enter password & boom! Your account will be reactivated the next time you try to log in through the app

Ahhhh. Thank you. Gonna try that on my personal for a week. It could use a reset.

Also, in case that your account is not a real business, for instance a blogger, public figure etc, and you make the change to business… you won´t have any official documents if they ban your account. Am I right?
As if it is a business account they will ask for billing or taxes document in order to restore it.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

That’s true, I’ve seen some people for tax documents or just send in regular utility bills and Instagram has recovered their disabled account, this was last year though so with the new updates there’s no telling if they’ve become more strict about this… To be safe I wouldn’t switch to a business profile unless you have one of the documents on their list

Just a quick update to this. According to Instagram, it makes no difference whether you’re a personal or business account:

"

  • Instagram doesn’t give extra feed presence to personal accounts or business accounts, so switching won’t help your reach.
  • Shadowbanning is not a real thing, and Instagram says it doesn’t hide people’s content for posting too many hashtags or taking other actions.

I’ve recently moved to Business Profile again, nothing changed, almost a week passed. Same type of engagement, no major drops. I’m pleased so far.

How you moved to business? I can’t do it from massplanner.

You do it on mobile? How do you load proxies?

Well, I think my main concern is to pass to business and then IG ban my account some day, and I have no business papers to claim it back. My profile is the blogger/lifestyle niche.

Doesn’t really make a difference. You don’t lodge any papers or identification to switch to a business account. It would be the same process if you were to have a personal account banned.

You need to do it from mobile — that’s my understanding. Then the proxies are just normal through Massplanner.

The smartest way to do it would be to load the proxies on your phone (identical to MassPlanner), then make the change and then continue running it on MassPlanner.
