Test Two Launch Promises Before Posting the Public Story

A cake-decorating class has at least two possible promises. One Story could lead with “Learn three piping finishes you can use at home.” Another could lead with “Leave with a celebration cake you decorated yourself.” They describe the same class, but give viewers different reasons to care.

Before the public launch, show each version to the same small, relevant Close Friends group on separate, comparable days. Keep the photo, price, class details, link sticker, and posting time as consistent as possible; change only that opening promise. Let each Story run for the same length of time, then note link taps relative to viewers and what people actually reply about. A reply asking whether materials are included is useful feedback on the message, even if that person never taps.

If the finished-cake version draws more link taps and fewer basic questions, use that promise in the public Story and make the materials answer easy to see. If the skill version gets the stronger response, lead with what people will learn instead. This is a quick way to sharpen the launch message, not a forecast of how the full audience will behave.

When you test a launch Story, what do you keep identical so the two messages are worth comparing?
