Say for example your new to IG - You have a fresh laptop with no cookies and you go to register a new account through the browser and it gives you a ‘error occurred’ you would probably just leave IG and never come back.
And thats whats happening to many people when they try to create accounts even if they leave no fingerprints.
I know its based on IP also but I have tested in places where there should be no problems.
And before anybody says “Go make on android blah blah blah” - Yes this works but what I mean is for the normal legit user this is kind of fucked up.
Although that may be the case on a regular application, it’s practically a sin these days not to have Instagram, so 99% of those people will keep trying until they find a solution - which is sad because they’ll be making all that effort just to have their data stolen and become frustrated with a continually updating visibility algorithm.
Yeah it truely shows how FB cares about their client base - instead of giving the user some feedback like try on a different device or download our app it says ‘an error occured’
How are they supposed to get ad revenue when their new customers cannot even register?
Talk about creating a terrible user experience… provided by one of the wealthiest and most powerful tech companies in the world, it’s really fucking pathetic.
Some usernames are not allowed on Instagram not only bad words and sometimes because of maintenance Instagram pause the account creation so it could be many reasons, but i’m still able to make 100 account using frech chromes and proxy per week with no problems.
It’s sad that they’ve let paranoia, denial, and personal/selfish biases affect the overall structure of the entire company. If they weren’t so distracted with political garbage then they would be producing a much better product for the user base.
Do you know what the saddest part is? Here we are, mutually agreeing that we practically hate their platform. There are probably millions of others like us; and yet Facebook has become so large that even the millions of users who are as frustrated as we are aren’t enough to affect them negatively. They’ve reached a point where their position of power is solidified against consequence, and that’s a terrifying thing if you ask me.
It’s one of the underlying reasons for the US government’s investigations and attempts to stop them from having so much unchecked power over the people, however it’s one of those things that’ll likely never happen the “right way” because of the data they hold and the already highly embedded government agents within (conspiracy) but probably also true to some degree. I mean how else can they track terrorists and bad actors without being intertwined?
So they’ll continue to have the ability to do anything and everything no matter the results, as a business, and that’s also scary. Something that basically runs as a public service but operates based on investors and financial success.
That’s the thing when social media platforms are built and the big initial pitch to investors is the quantity of active users. If the pitch to investors was based on advertising revenue, then initially the platforms wouldn’t have been as good for organic marketing, as the focus would have been on generating advertising revenue from the start.
It’s really a mix of things all happening at the same time: changing business model to a more investor-friendly model and a less user-friendly model, political biases and selfish objectives (because everyone things exactly the same way that Facebook and it’s employees do, right) and a monopolized marketplace.
