I talked with a lot of people about this. Unfortunately, if you don’t have any press release, it’s very expensive. You won’t find someone to do it for you for less than 6k, but if you are interested even with this price, I can link you to the people who do it.
About getting the verification badge without press release, I don’t know, there is a part of luck, but I would say most of us won’t have the verification badge.

I agree with @shoka that it’s really down to luck if you try it w/o loads of press and/or via someone in the industry who can attach the actual media coverage evidence. I have a big account with 100% original content, genuine followers and high engagement and also have about 10 piece of national press but I still was declined through the App!
The verification person I’m using from another site charges $2k and is obtaining the verification before I pay. If he’s successful then I’ll happily settle up! This seems to be pretty risk-free I think? If it turns out he’s not a scammer then I’ll happily share his dets. I’d rather not do so before he delivers though, bcos I don’t want to be driving anyone into the arms of a fraudster!

Stop believing those that say they’ll get you a blue badge if you’re a nobody. You need articles on recognized newspapers and/or magazines.
Only other way, is to know someone within that Department, or to know someone at a huge agency that has access to that department.
I don’t have articles. I do have a blog though and I don’t steal/repost other people’s stuff… In any case I create good content and I probably that’s why I got verified. But yes, don’t believe anyone who says they can get you the badge, especially guys like that one, who can barely speak English. Lmao.
