Hi Everyone,
I’m doing Instagram account management. In the last few days, some of my clients accounts are losing a lot of followers. They never bought any Fake/Bot followers.
Anyone face the same issue?
They got tired of the posts, or got hit with PV and haven’t confirmed with IG.
Most likely the latter one. Once they PV, they’ll show back as followers. Instagram is hitting many accounts. It could also be bots. Bots follow and do interact with real accounts.
Ive heard a few people mention this, maybe another ban wave for bots?
they’re most likely bot accounts that get disabled by IG. real followers don’t drop that sudden unless you made drastic changes on your account or you stop posting quality contents.
As @ossi said, Instagram does that sweep from time to time disabling fake accounts and remove fake likes and that will definitely cause that kind of followers drop.
How many followers are we talking about?
Ranging from 50-300 depends on the account size.
The crazy one is 100-ish followers down to 30-ish followers. Even his friend is removed from the followers list. When my client asked if his friend do unfollowing, his friend say he didn’t do any unfollow.
Sometimes there will be waves of these things without a clear explanation.
Part of the game of being on Insta for the long term.
Gotta learn the patterns. Sometimes seasonal, as @Alexnvo would say.
Bans do not necessarily mean something you do right now. It can be a combination of things you have done previously and things you have done right at that same moment.
The huge sudden drops are mostly bot accounts who may have followed you through hashtagging or some other way.
BUT!!!
IG is getting more strict and it seems like things are going to stay this way. STRICT!
And now if your followers somehow cross the algo and get banned you will experience those drops. And a lot of people are getting banned these days. This is mainly due to violating the rules in one way or the other.
Just a simple thing like a unfollower app. It’s been used by millions of people. And many people still don’t know that using these 3rd. Party apps will get you banned sooner or later, and they still actively use them, to track who has been unfollowing them.
Viloating copyrighted material most definately will have your account banned. There is so many ways that your followers are facing banns these days.
Yep, recently got blocked and had a response from insta saying that any 3rd party app is not allowed and they’re coming down hard on it for the future
There you go. And trust me I am seing it on a daily basis. They are not kidding. People who tend to ignore these blocks will get banned.
I think IG is the strictest with inappropriate material and violating copyright material. That will for sure get your account deactivated, but I feel like they won’t deactivate a person’s account for using a 3rd party app because for example, a lot of people use the unfollower trackers (literally millions of people) so then so many accounts would be deactivated and discourage people from using IG in the future (which will hurt them financially.) They give temporary bans to these people to discourage them from using these 3rd party apps, and hope they will stop using them in the future because getting the action blocks is annoying. I know some people who gotten these blocks like 20 times or more (they were not even using 3rd party apps, just manually following, unfollowing, etc) if instagram thinks you are spam they will ask you to verify your account or change your password, and if you do then you are fine and just have to slow down on your activity.
I too had a client recently who had her followers drop from 62k to 42k few days back and since then she didnt gain back anything. She have had all her followers gained through hitting explore page and top posts on several hashtags, but never used any blackhat methods or giveaway or bought fakes.
the last 2 months, i am down about 50k all my accounts. the tide began January 1, I saw the change – if you folks look at many accounts, you can see the pattern also. Within the last 2 months, that has accelerated. Even my best accounts that had never had losses for days in a row, now are weeks in a row in losses. A purge? TikTok? Reduced reach? anyone’s guess – possibly this is now the game – and will stay that way. This cannot be told until Corona is over as it fucks up everything on Social Media
I definitely agree that Instagram is getting rid of bots and spam accounts (they prob send them a notice to verify their accounts and if they do not then they get deleted)
You litterally have to be naive to think that violating IG’s term by using 3rd party apps and getting ACs and blocks won’t get your accounts permanently blocked in the end.
Maybe you see some people keep using these apps, but I see triple that amount getting banned using them.
It all comes down to the amount calls a profile makes these days. IG has a daily profile visit limit too.
Having 10K+ followers makes it impossible to use these apps now a days anyways, since scraping this amount of followers and followings to compare the lists will hit you with blocks and verifications almost instantly.
The same does mass unfollowing and following.
Mass actions is yet another reason your ER will be killed. So all reasons for not using these apps, if you wanna be in this game on the long run.
Also Manually following and unfollowing can get you permanently banned if you keep hitting blocks, trust me. I am talking out of experience and many accounts lost. But much more wiser today.
Though with manual engagement it takes some time before it may happen.
But since you ruin your ER more and more for each time you hit different blocks, and everytime the bad ER will last longer before you start seing it start rising again, many people tend to give up. No point in raising the amount of followers when you have shitty engagement. Just read on this forum and realise how many can’t seem to raise their bad ER again.
Doing manual follows and unfollows is not gonna give you a free ticket. Now see, IG doesn’t only hit on bots, 3rd party apps only. Ig hits on automation like behavior in general, even doing everything manually.
I don’t use any 3rd party apps or automation, but I did get a week action block for unfollowing too many people manually that I simply no longer wanted to follow. I am now extra careful with my account. How many action blocks did you receive before your account was disabled? And what was there reasoning for disabling your account?
@Candydandy Very different. Every account has a different trustscore. Some can push it a bit more than others. My best advice to you is that if you can effort loosing the account, like let’s say a slave account, PUSH IT. If it dies, you just create 10 more. But with main accounts and client accounts always stay safe. Find the approximate upperlimit of that account and stay a decent amount under that. Think of it as a journey and not a race.
The accounts I lost were all put down due to different reasons. Now it almost never happens only due to one specific action but a combination of actions. The last one was actually due to many TB within a month. Manual actions. Like, comment, dm, follow & unfollow. But I am convinced that it was the amount of total actions which caused the perm bann.
But your 1 week action block will hit your ER for some time, and then you are back on track. Don’t worry. Just make sure to stay active and do normal amount of actions on your profile. No need to stop everything. Just for a period of time. Then slowly start raising your actions.
I been having drop since last week .
Did you try to appeal the ban and did you receive AC messages telling you to change your password? And yeah I never get action blocks and it was my fault for unfollowing too many people (I’ve been on Instagram for years and I forgot how strict they’ve gotten.) If you’ve had an account for a long time with the trust score be better? (I’ve had mine for 8-9 years)
And btw thank you so much for sharing your experiences
