Mine is currently inactive. It even says No Service, yet they still recognise its location. Not sure if it’s the same with other SIM cards though.
No, I only use one device. Once you post your video using your Asian card, you can switch back to your regional one. Switching isn’t a problem at all.
Hello everyone.
I have an update. I have been using Nik’s method but not sure it’s working.
I think that my issue might be because I got 40k followers from all over while trying different VPNs and strategies so maybe Tiktok does not know where to show my videos anymore.
This is a theory I have, I can’t confirm it’s accuracy!
Take a look at my analytics for a video (Image below). It totally does not make any sense. I’m using a Canadian sim with wifi only.
However today I noticed something interesting:
-
If I go on google here in Italy while on wifi the results default in Italian even with my canadian sim.
-
If I turn wifi off and use my data the results are all in english.
So now I’m thinking, maybe the solution is having a sim of the desired country and use data versus wifi?
(At least if wifi does not seem to work like in my case).
Concluding. I am not sure if my issue is that Nik’s method is not working, or maybe my audience is too global at this stage because of my earlier mistakes so tiktok is confused.
Either way I might try posting with the canadian SIM and data on. If anyone else tries before me let me know how it goes
Could you send an image of your discover page (the page that displays the trending hashtags) while your Canadian sim card is in. Depending on what the hashtags are shows what country/region TikTok prioritizes sending your tiktoks out to
By the way I went on my for you feed.
The content is from all over, english native 50% some french ( I don’t even speak it) some from asian countries.
The ads that pop up are only in Italian also.
Ok I just tried turning my wifi off and my data on (so with roaming on my Canadian sim).
The for you hastags are the same but when I scroll through the feed I see more canadian content and the ads are now from Canada and not Italy.
Given this should I maybe try posting with my data on and wifi off?
I’m really confused
These hashtags are the American/Canadian based hashtags so I assume your videos are being pushed to Canada and other countries that have a decent amount of English speakers like the Netherlands and Australia which are high in the views of the analytics screenshot you posted
The French content could be due to the Canadian Sim as Quebec in Canada is a French speaking state with millions of people who speak fluent French
Give it a try with data on and wifi off and compare the analytics with videos with wifi on to see if it makes a difference
I jus posted with data on and wifi off.
Same result my video is being shown to random countries.
I believe that I messed up my account by using a VPN early on. Right now my followers come from so many countries and no country has more than 7%.
I believe this is why tiktok is pushing it out randomly, they are utterly confused.
I wonder is there a chance this will change? I have not used a VPN in like 3 weeks maybe it needs more time?
Now I have 2 options:
-
continue with this account (53k followers)
-
make a new one.
Obviously starting new sucks, but my content is truly viral in nature and I wonder if the fact that it’s being sent to a bunch of random countries is affecting the early engagement and virality.
Ex, my second last video. I posted it with my wifi on, it has everything to be viral, but something weird is happening…
It’s been going up like 200-500 views per minute for 24 hours. It’s at 170k views but the way it’s going there is strange. Many of my videos trickle views for days instead of booming like other creators do.
I wonder is this normal or could it be caused by the confusion tiktok is experiencing aka distributing my content in random countries? I literally see waves of countries coming in lol
Thanks in advance
This is what concerns me. I don’t know if I can go back from this regardless of what I do lol…
If I made a new account and deleted this one would I be able to repost the same videos if I delete them first?
Like I am so frustrated
I am on data and see only Canadian content and ads mainly but when I posted nothing changed. Actually my last video seem to have gone really in random places this time.
If I go back to wifi the ads are in Italian the content more global.
I really don’t know what to do.
Go back to wifi, stay on data, make a new account, stay on this and just hope to grow even though I have a handicap
Views tend to trickle in nowadays. I had a post that got 8k views in the first 5 days then ended up getting 300k views the week later. My best guess is you might need to post for a while to gain a more Canadian audience. Also when posting on a Canadian Sim your content is guaranteed to go to Canada just to more English speaking countries. Countries like the Netherlands, Sweden and Australia are considered English speaking enough in Tiktoks eyes for example. You could try making another account with data on and post there for a week and compare analytics
Thanks brother.
I am trying one more post with data on and trying location services off.
The strange is that sometimes my videos start in Canada but after like 10k views they go all over lol.
If I make a new account I assume that I need to post new content? I tried once and posted one of my videos and it got 0 views.
My problem is that I do impossible trickshots so it would suck to waste one for a test account since I assume I won’t be able to use that shot again as I read that tiktok recognized if you “stole content.”
By the way what’s your tiktok?
I owe you a follow for all your help
Thanks again
Yeah I had an experience once where using American VPN I had like 100k views from the USA then the next 500K views came from South East Asia hahaha
My tiktok is bazilfacebaby. My tiktoks have been under-performing ever since the VPN trick stopped working 2 weeks ago but I get my SIM Card from America tomorrow so im very excited!
I also just realized something.
The wifi or data is not what matters. It has to be the sim.
Whether you’re on data or wifi you’re still showing up as in the country you’re in.
For instance people travel and use wifi abroad and roam abroad too.
The sim is the trick that worked for Nik, wifi or data is irrelevant. If his Thai sim was active and he used data I bet he would get the same results.
For some odd reason it’s not working well for me, but maybe Italy is just weird or maybe it’s because I built a following of 40k before making these changes and now tiktok is confused.
I will continue try posting with data on, as with data on I see ads from Canada (but not with wifi on).
The other thing I’m trying is hiding a tiny canadian flag in my videos. I heard that this can signal to tiktok where to push your video, let’s see if it works
You got a follow. Assuming you’re the one from Lebanon
I have a lot of Libanese friends in Canada!
Would it be risky if I asked a friend in Canada to login my account and post for me?
Meaning I’d be on tiktok from two devices in different countries.
I feel that’s the ultimate test to see if what I’m experiencing is solvable or just an after effect of having built a global following.
Nik quick question.
When you go in the for you page. Do you see ads from the country you’re in or ads from the country where your videos show?
Thanks
Hey there!
Yes the screenshot was made with wifi. What changed between wifi and data is the for you page. With wifi the ads are in Italian and the for you page is more global. With data the ads are from Canads and the for you page is more Canadian.
Well I am not worried, but I believe that I would be trowing faster if my content was distributed in the right country.
All of my videos get distributed randomly, some bave spain as the main country, others netherlands and so on. Now many people speak english in these countries but many do not. This can very well affect metrics such as watch time, likes, rewatches, shares, comments and so on since the content won’t be easy to understand for all of this audience.
So yah, I’m not upset but I wonder why is this happening to me. People either have issues that their content is being shown in their country or they can figure out the trick and it goes in the desired country.
Mine goes global and to random countries each video
