When I send in my appeal form it shows “There was a problem with this request. We’re working on getting it fixed as soon as we can.”
As the message suggests, it’s an error on IG’s side (most likely in your specific region) - Simply wait.

I get this error too. Hope it will be fixed soon and can reappeal.

I think I found a solution to it!!!
When your facebook and your instagram are connected, than you don’t have to be afraid. Enter your phone number on facebook, wait a few days, weeks and try logging in to Instagram. For me, the email was wrong and I read what to do in a lot of places afterwards. Of course, there was no article specifically for this. Then I read about the benefits of pairing. He wrote that if e.g. you change some data on facebook, the other will change automatically, in this case on Instagram. This happened yesterday that suddenly my phone number also appeared as an option that I typed into Facebook weeks ago. And the verification code was sent immediately. I couldn’t believe it … It all happened completely by accident because I had already given up on Instagram due to the wrong email.

so you want to say that if Insta and FB is connected and if we enter a no in FB, after few weeks it will show as an option for login on Insta.
so we can login Insta via number also!

Exactly so. 
You can also try signing in with your phone number after entering it on Facebook. If this is successful, the phone number will appear as an option after a while. That’s exactly what happened to me. I logged in with my number and after 1-2 weeks Instagram also accepted it.

Ossi more and more instagram just want verification via phone. Also if the account was created with mail. And i think maybe at the end of the year u just can make verification via phone number. And if u don’t have a good set up u will lose a tons of scraper accounts made with mails. :-/
And if u switch all time the phone number u lose the account so fast. How i say no real human switch the phone number every 2 Days, or every Week. We get on our Scraper like 2 Days - 2 Weeks interval a verification like this or reChap + This with phone + change pw.
Or just reChap or just phone. not so often just PW change. Im happy that PW change is the lowest verification because if u have the account also on your Website u have to relink all time the account to the website and this is a new log in and not good.
Did u ever get your account back because I’m having this same issue.
I had a account with 15K followers which was banned. All the followers were organic, I made a story about Covid masks and got a message saying from Instagram saying this was not allowed. I woke up today to see my account got banned. Anyone face similar issues?
